The motorcycle chain must be lubricated and checked periodically. Its average duration of use is of up to 30.000 kilometers if it received preventive and corrective maintenance. Under extreme use conditions, its duration of use may be lower. Saying this, the service life of the chain also depends on the favorable climate conditions (humidity, sand), as well as of the condition of the sprockets.

Every 500 or 600 kilometers we must check the tension of the chain. Normally, the user manual indicates the slack that the chain should have. Nevertheless, to do this technically, we must verify that the chain is between 15 and 20 millimeters at the point of maximum tension.
